Looking back to our first day compared to now, we have had a very productive week.
We were able to send out our second batch of surveys (it is the same survey but to a larger sample group in order to have more information for the bus route), we were able to speak with two transportation companies, decided how we want to present the idea, and make a lot of progress on our written report and storyboard.
This week has been hard, we had a few setbacks: our meetings with some companies got pushed back or canceled, the surveys took about a week to approve and we needed that information fast. We were quite worried for a second that things would not turn out on time. But in the end, it all worked out.
Our biggest achievement was definitely not only getting all this work done but finding people in the hospital who are very eager to help us and love the idea. As said before, we are still very worried about creating a sense of false hope amongst the staff, however, we are aware that even if it doesn't work out, the most we could do was open the eyes of management even a little, and hopefully the staff can take this idea and make it something of their own.
We got really excited when someone gave us hope that they might accept the idea as create a trial rule to see how it would work first, and when they said that this isn't only a good opportunity for nurses and maintenance, but there are members of the administration who would appreciate this as well.
After a meeting with someone from the administration, we received some clear guidance as to what we should talk with the transportation company of our choosing and feel confident that we have clear knowledge on what we need to start the actual route.
Our goals for this weekend are to work on the written report and the storyboard as much as possible so that next week we can focus on creating a concrete plan with the transportation company we choose, and propose the idea to the hospital as well as start prepping our stand presentation.
We can honestly calm down a bit and start to really get excited for what's ahead; it's going to be a busy week but we are satisfied that not only are we making great progress, but we are actually creating a difference.
